About Kevin Farmer
As a former high school All-American athlete and collegiate baseball player, I recognized how important sports and exercise were to people. I decided to enter the field of orthopaedics and sports medicine because I became intrigued by helping patients get back to doing the activities they love. Currently, I am a professor in the University of Florida Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine and a team physician for the UF Athletic Association. I earned my medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2003 before going on to complete a residency in orthopaedic surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following residency, I completed a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the University of Miami Sports Medicine Institute (formerly the Uribe, Hechtman, Zvijac Sports Medicine Institute) and a fellowship in shoulder and elbow reconstruction at the University of Florida.
As a physician, I believe all options should be discussed with patients. It is my goal to provide my patients with all of the information they need to make an informed decision about their care. Throughout my career, I have published 14 book chapters and 80 peer-reviewed publications in journals such as the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine, the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, and Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research. I am also the editor of the “In-Season Management of Football Injuries” textbook.
I was elected to membership in the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. I formerly served as the president of the Florida Orthopedic Society and the Florida Alliance for Sports Medicine. Currently, I am a board member for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Southern Orthopaedic Association.
In my free time, I enjoy golfing, fishing, exercising and spending time with my family.

I would highly recommend this physician to anyone. He was so easy to talk to, Nonjudgmental, Compassionate And knowledgeable. I've had orthopedic doctors in Michigan do exams on me that did not objectively show. What kind of problems my shoulders are having due to the fact that my other muscle groups compensate for things like strength testing. This doctor examine my shoulders completely different than any other physician that is examining my shoulders, and he knew exactly where the problem areas are. Like I said, I was very impressed and grateful to have him in my corner when I decide to move forward with shoulder surgery down the road. Thank you!!

The whole visit from start to finish was great. I came away feeling that my issue was well diagnosed and addressed. The staff and doctor were caring and listened to my concerns. The steroid shot was administered without any pain which was a relief since it was my first shot and I was a bit nervous about it. Overall great visit!
