The purpose of this research study is to determine if an educational intervention increases caregiver’s and coaches’ knowledge of baseball injury prevention guidelines.
Procedures to be followed
If you agree to participate in this study, you will be randomly assigned (much like the flip of a coin) to receive one of three different educational interventions and asked to complete a questionnaire at two separate time points (during the beginning of the baseball season and near the conclusion of the baseball season). You will have an equal 1 in 3 chance of being assigned to a group. These three groups are:
- a group that will attend an in-person educational session
- a group that will be provided an educational handout
- a group that will receive no additional education.
All subjects enrolled at a single institution will receive the same education. We will also collect some information to be used in the study which includes demographics, contact information, and previous medical history. These questionnaires will be completed in person, by email, by phone, or by paper.
Duration
It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete the survey
Research Benefits
There is no direct benefit to the subjects in this study; however, the information provided in this study could lead to improved education of coaches and caregivers on baseball injury prevention guidelines.
