3D printing is available to University of Florida students, faculty, staff, and the general public to make three-dimensional objects in PLA plastic from an uplinked file in STL, OBJ, or 3MF format.
Users of our 3D Printing service may not 3D print anything that is:
- Prohibited by local, state, or federal law.
- Prohibited by UF IT’s Acceptable Use Policy.
- In violation of another’s intellectual property rights. We cannot reproduce material subject to copyright, patent, or trademark protection.
- Unsafe, harmful, dangerous, or posing a threat to the well-being of others.
We reserve the right to:
- Decline any 3D print order.
- Use discretion to organize the print queue for overall efficiency.
- Prioritize 3D printing for medical models, research, and other reasons as necessary.
- Place the 3D printers in a public area of the facility, where patients/staff may view the objects being printed.
Quality:
- Support material is often required for 3D models that have significant overhangs or parts suspended in mid-air.
- Users are responsible for the removal of support material; any damage that occurs during this process is not the responsibility of 3D staff members.
Access:
- Only authorized Ortho IT members have hands-on access to the 3D printers.
