The UF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine recently had the privilege of presenting its research at the 2024 Annual Congress of the European Society of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (SECEC-ESSSE) in Munich, Germany. One of the biggest conferences for elbow and shoulder surgery worldwide, this remarkable event featured research presentations with a wide range of topics and concepts.

The Hand/Upper Extremity and Trauma teams in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine were awarded a grant to help fund their multicenter prospective study on the treatment of proximal humerus fractures. This grant was sponsored by the AAOS (American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons) in conjunction with the ASES (American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons) and was only awarded to two institutions in the country.

Aimee Struk presented with Exactech Legacy Award at inaugural Clinical Research Coordinator meeting
Aimee Struk, MEd, MBA, ATC, was awarded Exactech’s Legacy Award during its inaugural Clinical Coordinator Meeting on August 2, 2018 for her long-term dedication to Exactech’s Multicenter Shoulder Arthroplasty Outcome study. The Clinical Coordinator meeting was held in Portland, Oregon in conjunction with Exactech’s annual Clinical Evaluator Meeting for its shoulder arthroplasty group.

Dr. Wright performs first of its kind computer-assisted surgery in the U.S. using new technology
Dr. Thomas Wright, MD, a University of Florida Health orthopaedic surgeon, is one of two nationally to perform the first computer-assisted shoulder replacement surgery in the United States of America utilizing a new technology that allows live navigation of the operative site.From the article:
