I may have been influenced by two earlier medical visits to UF health, neither of which was satisfactory. That is , my experience of the visit with Dr. Merindino and his assistants might seem spectacularly good in part because it is set against less satisfactory experiences! That said, he made eye contact with me and with his Helpers as a checking in to see if we understood him. He created a narrative about my foot pain based on the two things I said that I thought were important about my pain. To me, his presentation conveyed confidence and not arrogance, CARE but not being catered to, and a generally carrying forward fresh air encouragement.

Before moving to Florida, I had a horrific experience at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where a series of unnecessary surgeries led almost led to an amputation of my foot. Dr. Merendio focused on clearing the infection and healing the wound. He succeeded 100%.

He’s the only podiatrist at UF so there’s no other option.
He didn’t remember my case, thought I was on prescription meds & I’m not, gave me a diagnosis of neuropathy that he didn’t mention before. Sat far away, I had my shoes off for no reason. Didn’t shake my hand. I felt dismissed. Spent less than 5 mins at bedside.

I needed to see this doctor 20 years ago to actually be properly diagnosed and that is truly the sad part of this whole situation.
