About Matthew Simone
My name is Matthew (Matt) Simone, and I am a nurse practitioner at the UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute. My journey into sports medicine started right here at the institute in 2018, when I served as a student intern during my undergraduate studies in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology at the University of Florida. That experience sparked a deep fascination with orthopaedics and human biomechanics, ultimately inspiring me to expand my clinical skills through nursing.
After earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Florida in 2019, I spent five years building a strong foundation in high-pressure care as an emergency and trauma registered nurse at UF Health's Level I Emergency and Trauma Center. However, I continually found myself drawn back to orthopaedics, frequently collaborating with orthopaedic residents to help manage and reduce acute injuries. This hands-on experience motivated me to advance my practice further, leading me to earn my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama in 2023 with dual board certifications as both an Emergency and Family Nurse Practitioner.
Today, I am incredibly proud to bring my diverse clinical background back to the Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute. I love taking the time to explain the "why" behind injuries and treatment plans, educating my patients on the biomechanics of exercise and functional movement so they feel empowered in their own recovery. My goal is to help patients optimize their physical performance, recover effectively, and move with confidence.
Outside of the clinic, I practice what I preach by staying active with calisthenics, exploring functional fitness, and spending quality time outdoors with my family.
