About Larry Chidgey
Dr. Larry Chidgey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine in the Division of Hand and Upper Extremity at the University of Florida. He obtained his MD degree from the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL in 1981. He completed his Orthopaedic Residency in University of Nebraska, Omaha, ND in 1986. He did his Hand Surgery Fellowship at the University of California, Davis, Sacramento, CA in 1987. Dr. Chidgey ABOS certified with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand.

Most of my time was spent with the technician who removed my cast and the physical therapist who made a new splint and provided a PT plan for me. I spent only a few minutes with the doctor and PA. The physical therapist was especially attentive and organized. Even the little touches like picking out splint colors made me feel like I had a little agency in the process.

Dr Chidgey was very pleasant and patient, and the emailed results actually arrived from Dr Herzbruns office while he was there. My husband pulled them up on his phone, and fortunately Dr. Chidgey was able to look at them to discern whether a steroid injection might help. He did give me a steroid injection and said to follow up if that did not help and we could discuss carpel tunnel surgery at that time.

All information about my wrist condition and answer to my questions given me by the interning physician
was very good. When the supervising orthopedic doctor entered the room the expertise of years of
his outstanding work became apparent. Any concerns about my having re-injured my wrist were
erased with his knowledge of the prior healing process even with major amount of hardware involved. It was reassuring to know that no further treatment is necessary unless my health deteriorates and intense pain becomes immanent.
