About Jongmin Kim
My name is Jongmin Kim, MD, and I am a clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. I earned my medical degree from Dankook University in Cheonan, South Korea. Following medical school, I completed an internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Kangbuk Samsung Hospital in Seoul, South Korea. I also completed a fellowship in hand and trauma surgery at Seoul National University Hospital followed by a fellowship in hand and reconstructive microsurgery at W Hospital in Daegu.
For two years, I volunteered in Bangladesh, where I served as a doctor to locals. I thoroughly enjoyed helping those who needed my expertise while I experienced their rich culture.
As a physician, I strive to be a place of comfort for my patients where they can share their difficulties. I chose to become a doctor because I enjoy interacting with patients and improving their quality of life. As a hand surgeon, I focus my research on exploring better options for patients suffering from nerve damage, upper extremity trauma and reconstructive surgery.
My clinical interests include bone fracture repair, carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, finger pain, joint pain, rheumatoid arthritis, wrist pain and wrist arthroscopy.
In my free time, I enjoy mountain climbing, jogging, playing tennis and spending time with my family and friends.

He is a very nice doctor. I feel like he didn't listen to me all that good. I understand he is the doctor, he knows more than I do. But when he was asking about my pain in my hand I feel he was trying to tell me where it was instead listening to me. I kept telling him no it hurts here and he would say here and I said yes because it did hurt in that spot but it hurt more in the area I tried to show him. 3 steroid shots to the hand, he got the spot I was showing him so we will see. Hopefully it works.

Dr Kim did my 'broken wrist' surgery May 9,2024 . He did an outstanding job. I returned to him yesterday ( I live in VA) for him to evaluate my progress after surgery and many trips to OT ( in VA) He listened and was knowledgeable.I hope not to return ( lol) but if I 'have' to , I'd see Dr Kim !

This was the second time I've sought treatment for this hand injury. The first time was a few years ago in NJ. I was told I had arthritis, and there was nothing that could be done. I felt ashamed, as if I wasted their time.This time, I got a similar diagnosis. But I was also shown the severity of the arthritis, and was given treatment options: a steroid injection, a brace, and, if necessary, surgery. I chose the steroid injection and brace. I was nauseous at the idea of the injection into my hand, but Dr. Kim was amazing. He properly numbed the area, and despite the needle being in my hand for a while, I barely felt it. He clearly cared about minimizing my discomfort. The brace team were equally professional. I got the right brace when I was done.When I left, I wanted to cry, not out of anger or pain or sadness, but out of joy. This office treated me well beyond my expectations. They acknowledged the significance of my pain, and took steps to greatly reduce it. They gave me expectations and options for the future. And they treated me like a human being.This is honestly the best practice I've seen for any specialty ever. I'm in awe of their operation. I'm an MBA student at UF, and this office should be studied as a model for how to do things the right way. I'm grateful for the experience.
