About Daniel Howgate

I was born and raised in the United Kingdom, where I developed an early interest in medicine and orthopaedic surgery. I earned my medical degree from the University of Leeds and completed my residency in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery through the Oxford Deanery. During my training, I worked at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and John Radcliffe Hospital, both internationally recognized for their clinical and academic excellence.

My passion for research and education led me to complete a PhD in Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford, where I focused on improving training methods for hip replacement surgery.

In 2023, I moved to the United States to further specialize through a clinical fellowship in adult reconstructive (joint replacement) surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. I then completed an additional fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine (joint preservation) with MedStar Health–Georgetown University in Baltimore and Washington, DC.

In September 2025, I joined the University of Florida as a faculty member in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.

My clinical practice focuses on primary and revision hip and knee replacement, as well as advanced joint preservation techniques. I have particular expertise in partial knee replacement and total hip replacement using the direct anterior approach. I am also passionate about utilizing enhanced recovery protocols to support outpatient surgery and help patients return to their daily lives as quickly and safely as possible.

I am committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, advancing orthopaedic research, and providing meaningful education to the next generation of physicians.

I arrived for my appointment at 1000 on main floor and checked in. I was 15 min early. No one advised me that he was behind schedule. I went up to second floor and after 45 min asked the nurse who checks you out , what was going on because 20 people came in after me and had left, she told me he was running 1 1/2 hrs late and he would probably get to me around 11:00-11:30. Just nerve wracking. Now still waiting for sceduleling to get to me.
