Dr. Rull James Toussaint Achieves FAOA Designation, Marking a Milestone in Orthopaedic Excellence

The University of Florida Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute proudly announces that Rull James Toussaint, MD, has been awarded the prestigious Fellow of the American Orthopaedic Association (FAOA) designation. This honor recognizes Dr. Toussaint's exceptional contributions to orthopaedic surgery, leadership, and dedication to advancing musculoskeletal health.

Dr. Toussaint serves as the Chief of the Foot and Ankle Division in the UF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He is renowned for his innovative work in foot and ankle reconstruction, including the integration of 3D printing technology for total talus and ankle replacement surgeries. His approach has significantly improved patient outcomes by offering faster recovery times and enhanced joint mobility .

A graduate of the University of Chicago, Dr. Toussaint earned his medical degree from New York University Grossman School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Harvard Medical School and a specialized fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the OrthoCarolina Foot and Ankle Institute. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Toussaint is a dedicated educator, serving as a Clinical Associate Professor at UF, and has contributed to disaster response efforts, including treating victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings and the 2010 Haiti earthquake .

The FAOA designation is reserved for orthopaedic surgeons who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in their field. Dr. Toussaint's induction into this esteemed group underscores his commitment to excellence in patient care, research, and education.
