A team led by Chancellor Gray and Hari Parvataneni, two arthroplasty surgeons at UFHealth in the Department of Orthopaedics, uncovered surprising predictors of patient success with hip and knee replacements. The study was presented at the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons meeting in Dallas, and was featured in the publication AAOSNow.

The study highlights the value of participating in the American Joint Replacement Registry (which UF has done since 2017) and of capturing patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and using them in surgical shared decision making, predictive analytics and to help risk stratify outcomes.
