The American Orthopaedic Association has recognized the UF Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute as a 2017 Own the Bone Star Performer in the U.S. News & World Report "Best Hospitals" Guide. Own the Bone is a national post-fracture quality improvement initiative that provides institutions the tools to ensure fragility fracture patients receive the treatment to prevent future fractures.
Own the Bone enrolled hospitals and practices that achieve a 75% compliance rate with at least 5 of the 10 Own the Bone prevention measures, based on patients entered during the preceding 12 month period, receive a special recognition as “Own the Bone Star Performers” for demonstrating the commitment to helping patients understand their risk for future fractures and the steps they can take to prevent them.
