13th Annual Hands to Love Camp: A smashing success!

It was inevitable with it’s thirteenth year that Hand's to Love's Hand Camp (which took place during March 15-17, 2013) would set records for number of hugs, laughs, tears, and most importantly smiles. Families coming from 12 different states, from as far as Alaska to as close as down the road, embarked on a common "Noble Quest to Inspire", this year's theme.

Along the way parents saw their children overcome challenges from shooting bow and arrows, creating their own shields and swords for fending off dragons, training to be the next Roger Federer or LeBron James and at night the families gathered together to rediscover magic and dance to minstrels. Parents had the opportunities to share their own stories of their children’s accomplishments and challenges, one mother so overwhelmed with joy shared that this year her son was able to soar to the top of the ropes course with the help of his Family Pal, an activity that she thought otherwise would have been impossible since, "he can't walk".

On the last morning of Hand Camp they were left with some of the most inspiring stories from our own group of "Cool Inspiring Teens". Some breaking through with accomplishments in athletics, others pursuing their passions in hobbies and even making their voices heard in the fight against bullying.  As the 57 families traveled back to their own realities, children hugged their friends a little tighter to make it last until the next year.
