The OSMI welcomes David G. Lewallen, MD, from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Lewallen will be presenting a talk to faculty and residents entitled, Innovation in Orthopedic Surgery: "Good Trouble."

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 

  1. List one of the top ten inventions that have been suggested as critical to the development of modern orthopedic surgery
  2. Illustrate one of the several ways surgeons can provide essential input to the development of novel orthopedic procedures or devices
  3. Describe one of the potential barriers to the successful clinical introduction of a new orthopedic device or procedure
