The OSMI welcomes Dr. Carlos J. Lavernia, MD, from The Center for Advanced Orthopedics at Larkin Hospital in Miami, Florida.  Dr. Lavernia will be presenting a talk to faculty and residents entitled, "Quality in Arthroplasty: Are We Fooling Ourselves?"

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the current situation concerning quality in arthroplasty and cost containment efforts.
  • Assess how cost containment measures could end up being more expensive.
  • Identify what providers are doing to adjust to the new health care economic environment and the effects of such measures on access to care and arthroplasty outcomes.
