The OSMI welcomes Edward McFarland, MD, The Wayne H Lewis Professor of Shoulder and Orthopaedic Surgery and Co-Director Division of Shoulder Surgery and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery
at Johns Hopkins University.  Dr. McFarland will be presenting a talk to faculty and residents entitled, "How a database, a fellow from Korea, and good luck got me promoted."

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Define various concepts of multidirectional instability of the shoulder
  • Identify several theories of what generates the pain in the shoulder of overhead athletes
  • Identify examination findings for making the diagnosis of traumatic anterior shoulder instability
  • Define the uses of clinical databases in orthopaedic practice
