Dr. Heather Vincent, Trevor Leavitt, Cong Chen and Joseph Wasser worked with the Atlanta Blaze Major League Lacrosse (MLL) team in Atlanta on May 13, 2016. The research team worked with players to develop the first ever on-the-field motion assessment of shooting and throwing motion in different player positions. This pro team and the UF Sports Performance Center are creating new trails in the area of lacrosse science.

Laura Ann Zdziarski, ATC, received a research grant from the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) in late June of 2015, to support her doctoral research in the Rehabilitation Sceince Doctoral (RSD) Program entitled “Incorporating athletic trainers into an orthopaedic trauma care team to improve patient’s functional and emotional profile.” Laura Ann will be completing her dissertation work in 2016-2017. The UF Sports Performance Center proudly hosted the Thompson Brothers Lacrosse Program on August 12, 2014. Miles, Lyle, Jeremy and Jerome Thompson, Bill O'Brien and Hunter Hemlock all participated in lacrosse throwing analysis and other measures to help the scientists better understand the mechanics of this growing sport.  Players represented national, professional and collegiate lacrosse programs (Rochester Rattlers, Iroquois Nationals, Albany Great Danes).

Congratulations to Aimee Struk, MEd, MBA, ATC, for being chosen to participate in the 2014-15 class of the University of Florida Leadership Academy.  Fifteen 15 participants were selected based on a competitive application process.

The goal of the Academy is to develop emerging leaders at the University of Florida by increasing participants' knowledge about the University of Florida and exploring what great leadership looks like at UF.
