Shawn Giebner earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in 2002. She then completed a second BS degree in Health Sciences from the State University of New York at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY in 2003, followed by her MS in Physical Therapy in 2005 and her DPT in 2007 also from the State University of New York at Upstate Medical University. Shawn currently holds her BOC, along with her athletic training and physical therapy licenses in both the state of Florida and New York.

Shawn joined University Sports Medicine at the University of Rochester, in 2005 where she worked as a sports physical therapist until she was recruited by UF Health Orthopaedics, in 2013. Her clinical interests are high school athletics, rehabilitation, concussions and heat illness.

Shawn serves as the Director of Athletic Training Outreach for the University of Florida, Department of Orthopaedics and is the head athletic trainer at Countryside Christian School. She is responsible for all of the athletic training services that are provided to the high schools in Alachua County, Levy County, Gilchirst County, Columbia County and Santa Fe College, which entails assigning an athletic trainer to the schools, providing care to injured athletes. Athletic training services are provided to Marion County Public Schools on an as needed basis.
