The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine is committed to educating and training individuals to become independent practitioners capable of providing the highest quality of orthopaedic care. We proudly train the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons through both residency and fellowship programming. Private support provides the critical funding needed to take these educational programs to the next level. Orthopaedics Residency Education Fund (F014863)
Gifts made to this fund support the clinical, teaching and research missions for residents in the orthopaedics department. This includes, but is not limited to, travel, books, dues, subscriptions, meetings, food, etc.

Drs. Suzanne and John Spanier Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship (F019045)
This fund was established in 2013 by Drs. Suzanne and John Spanier to honor current faculty member Dr. Richard Vlasak, and support education and research initiatives relating to orthopedic trauma in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine within the College of Medicine. At the wish of Drs. Spanier, as this endowment grows from additional gifts, the spendable income will then be used to support awards to fellows in orthopaedic trauma.

Shriners Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedics (F024151)
The spendable income from the fund shall be used to support a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics, including clinical care, education, and research. Any individual selected as a recipient of the fellowship must have the requisite qualifications and credentials as determined by the College and University, including a commitment to the treatment of orthopaedics diseases that adversely affect the lives, comfort, well-being, and happiness of children. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in the treatment of children with congenital deformities and conditions, neuromusculosketal diseases, orthopaedic injuries, and rare bone diseases. Candidates will have an interest and commitment to research contributions and scientific publications in the field of pediatric orthopaedics.
