Support for Resident and Fellow Education

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine is committed to educating and training individuals to become independent practitioners capable of providing the highest quality of orthopaedic care. We proudly train the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons through both residency and fellowship programming. Private support provides the critical funding needed to take these educational programs to the next level. Please read below to learn about a few of our funds that currently support these programs, and how you can help.

Orthopaedics Residency Education Fund (F014863)

Gifts made to this fund support the clinical, teaching and research missions for residents in the orthopaedics department. This includes, but is not limited to, travel, books, dues, subscriptions, meetings, food, etc.

Drs. Suzanne and John Spanier Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship (F019045)

This fund was established in 2013 by Drs. Suzanne and John Spanier to honor current faculty member Dr. Richard Vlasak, and support education and research initiatives relating to orthopedic trauma in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine within the College of Medicine. At the wish of Drs. Spanier, as this endowment grows from additional gifts, the spendable income will then be used to support awards to fellows in orthopaedic trauma.
