The University of Florida Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine's Adult Reconstruction Fellowship has been part of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) Fellowship Recognition Program since its inception in 2023, reflecting the program's commitment to providing the highest quality educational and training experience for the next generation of hip and knee surgeons. Building on that commitment to excellence, the fellowship has now been awarded funding through the AAHKS Fellowship Education Improvement and Innovation Program.
The competitive grant program supports adult reconstruction fellowship programs across the country that are advancing educational excellence and innovation in hip and knee arthroplasty training. The initiative is designed to strengthen fellowship education while promoting standardized curricula and enhanced training opportunities for future orthopaedic surgeons.
The UF Orthopaedics Adult Reconstruction Fellowship provides comprehensive training in primary and complex hip and knee replacement, revision arthroplasty, direct patient care, research and resident education. Fellows train alongside three fellowship-trained adult reconstruction surgeons through a high-volume clinical experience that emphasizes evidence-based care, surgical excellence and academic development.
Grant funding will support continued enhancements to the fellowship's educational mission, providing additional educational resources and opportunities that further enrich fellow training and ultimately improve patient care.
The AAHKS Fellowship Education Improvement and Innovation Program encourages fellowship programs to develop initiatives that advance fellowship education through innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement. The University of Florida Adult Reconstruction Fellowship remains committed to preparing orthopaedic surgeons who will lead the future of hip and knee arthroplasty through excellence in patient care, education and research.
