BodPod Body Composition

The UF Sports Performance Center is offering free body composition testing for children (grade 3, or minimum weight 55 pounds, through high school grade 12). This free and easy test provides important information about your child’s body fat percentage and fat free weight percentage. An informative handout about the results and guidelines for healthy diet and activity levels are provided after the test. Our mission is to help empower you and your child about how to maintain a healthy weight, healthy bones and muscles and fight childhood obesity!

Les Jebson to present at the 2010 Beckers/Ambulatory Surgery Association Conference.

OSMI Administrator, Les Jebson, has been asked to present at the 2010 Beckers/Ambulatory Surgery Association Annual Conference. Jebson will present on U.S. hospital’s growing migration towards direct employment of orthopedists.

This year’s conference will take place on June 10-12, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois at The Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago. Visit the 2010 Beckers/Ambulatory Surgery Association Annual Conference website to learn more about this conference.

Dr. Horodyski presents lectures in Europe.

Dr. Marybeth Horodyski, PhD

Dr. MaryBeth Horodyski, PhD, recently traveled to Europe giving lectures in London, England and Bologna, Italy.

On November 19th, 2009, Dr. Horodyski delivered a series of lectures to University of Greenwich students on various topics in sports medicine. Staff from the London Blitz, the latest champion of the British American Football League, also attended the evening lecture on concussion assessment and management.

On November 21st, 2009, Dr. Horodyski was a keynote speaker at a meeting of the European Society of Athletic Therapy and Training, speaking on "Spine Injury Management: Lessons Learned From Spine Injury Prevention Research".

Dr. Kevin Vincent, MD, PhD, and Dr. Heather Vincent, PhD, recently attended the 2009 Annual Assembly of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation meeting in Austin, Texas, during October 23rd-25th, 2009.

On October 23rd, Kevin Vincent presented a workshop entitled: "Evaluation and Treatment of Exertional Leg Pain: Evidence Based Practice."

On October 24th, Heather and Kevin Vincent presented a poster grand rounds entitled: "The Impact of Body Mass Index and Abductor Brace Use on Inpatient Rehabilitation Outcomes Following Total Hip Arthroplasty."

 

Dr. Kennedy serves as guest faculty for 2009 AAPMR meeting.

Dr. DJ Kennedy, MD, Assistant Professor in the Physical Medicine Division of the UF Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institue, served as guest faculty at the 2009 Annual Assembly of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation meeting in Texas during October 23rd-25th.

While serving as guest faculty, Dr. Kennedy presented a talk entitled, "Functional and Kinetic-Chain Based Exam of the Foot: Defining Subtalar Neutral and Pronated Foot".
