PM&R Research
Members of the PM&R Orthopaedics Research faculty and staff include Dr. Heather Vincent, PhD, Dr. Kevin Vincent, MD, PhD, Dr. DJ Kennedy, MD, Amanda Seay and Cindy Montero M.S.
Graduate and undergraduate students serve as volunteers and interns in the Human Dynamics Laboratory Complex. The PM&R Orthopaedics research has mentored numerous recipients from the Undergraduate Scholarship Program and from the First Year Medical Student Research Program (MSRP). Medical and post-doctoral fellows can participate in projects or develop their own project. The faculty are performing research that focus on joint pain and optimization of physical function. Please see a listing of some of the ongoing projects below:
- The Influence of Concentrically or Eccentrically Focused Resistance Exercise on Knee Pain and Physical Function in Older Adults with Knee Osteoarthritis (Funded NIH NIAMS 2010-2013)
- Resistance Exercise Effects on Fear Avoidance Beliefs and Physical Function in Obese, Older Adults with Chronic Low Back Pain (Funded NIH NIAMS 2010-2013)
- Impact of Bariatric Surgery on Short Term Weight Loss- Related Changes in Gait and Quality of Life
- Functional and Quality of Life Outcomes Following Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Viscosupplementation for Knee Osteoarthritis
- Examination of the Effects of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Viscosupplementation on synovial fluid inflammatory of oxidative stress biomarkers in osteoarthritis (funded FERRING, Inc)
